Eight Minutes Ago is an ink jet print on a sheet of paper made by the artist especially for this work. The photograph is of a landscape showing a wide panorama of a farm field with the stubble from a harvested corn crop. On the horizon we see a farm yard with a silo and house. This is where the artist grew up.

There are two texts photoshopped along the horizon line. To the left of the farm yard, in a printed sans-serif type face, is written “The sun’s emission of gravitons keeps the earth from moving in a straight line now.” On the right is another text, this time in handwritten cursive letters. An arm holding a pencil enters the photographic space diagonally across the field in the bottom right corner, as if it is writing the words…”How to leave? How to come back? Small words gleaned from a place called home”

Eight Minutes Ago est une impression à jet d’encre sur une feuille de papier fabriquée par l’artiste spécialement pour cette œuvre. La photographie représente un paysage montrant un large panorama d’un champ agricole avec les chaumes d’une récolte de maïs. À l’horizon, nous apercevons une cour de ferme avec un silo et une maison. C’est ici que l’artiste a grandi.

Deux textes ont été photoshopés le long de la ligne d’horizon. À gauche de la cour de la ferme, dans une police de caractères sans empattement, il est écrit : « L’émission de gravitons par le soleil empêche la terre de se déplacer en ligne droite actuellement ». À droite, un autre texte, cette fois-ci en écriture cursive écrite à la main. Un bras tenant un crayon entre dans l’espace photographique en traversant le champ en diagonale dans le coin inférieur droit, comme s’il écrivait les mots… « Comment partir? Comment revenir? Des petits mots glanés dans un lieu appelé maison ».
