Description

Elle is a stop-motion animation. A string enters the frame forming the loops of the four letters of the word “elle” (the French word for “she”). The two L’s then separate to form a winged butterfly-shape that then seems to fly out of the frame. The video was shot in the artist’s Montréal living room using the natural light coming in the window, as a result we can see the shadows of moving trees and hear the ambient sounds of the city and birds.

It is one of three videos in the Sweet Nothings / Petits riens video triptych.

L’œuvre, Elle est une animation en stop-motion dans laquelle on voit une ficelle entrer dans le cadre en formant les boucles des quatre lettres du mot « elle ». Les deux lettres « L » se séparent ensuite pour former un papillon ailé qui s’envole ensuite hors du cadre. La vidéo a été tournée dans le salon de l’artiste à Montréal, en utilisant la lumière naturelle de la fenêtre, ce qui permet de voir les ombres des arbres en mouvement et d’entendre les sons ambiants de la ville et des oiseaux.
Il s’agit de l’une des trois vidéos du triptyque Sweet Nothings / Petits riens.
