Description
Conceptual Drawing presents a sheet of paper with a strip cut part way down the centre of the page leaving a space in the page. The strip is roughly twisted into a thread with other threads of finer, spun paper tied to it. The thread passes down through the centre of a much-used pencil, of which the lead has been removed. The thread then makes a circular loop around the pencil.

L’œuvre Conceptual Drawing se présente sous la forme d’une feuille de papier dont une bande a été coupée au milieu de la page, laissant un espace dans la page. La bande est torsadée en un fil et d’autres fils de papier plus fin y sont attachés. Le fil passe par le centre d’un crayon très utilisé, dont la mine a été retirée. Le fil fait ensuite une boucle autour du crayon.
Statement
Conceptual Drawing plays with the fundamentals of drawing by transforming paper, line, and gesture into both medium and subject. The paper is traditionally seen as a neutral support for marks and words. In this work the paper thread passing through a hollowed pencil and looping in a circular gesture shows that paper can be both support and content.
